A Letter From Sarah Foster, Lead Designer

I LOVE PEOPLE.  I love the one I married.  I love the growing teens in my house.  I love meeting new people, getting to know them, and folding them into my life.

Thinking about HOME and how people feel comfortable and truly live was my catalyst into the world of Interior Design.  For beauty and home to collide.  My years in Design School at Samford University were spent just itching to get out there and transform things.  To learn about this further, my first job after college was in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago working for Holly Hunt.  And this is when my love affair with textiles was born.  From there, I moved back home to Louisville, Kentucky, where I worked in a high end design shop selling Persian rugs, fabrics, antiques, and started meeting with my first design clients.  Grad school for my husband moved us to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where I worked for a mid-size firm offering custom residential and hospitality design.  After three years in this environment, and with my first baby on the way, I decided to start Foster House.  Over ten years later and a cross country move to Denver, Colorado, I still enjoy working with clients all over the United States.  While I won't deny great pride at seeing a project completed, what means the most to me is knowing that I have come to know and care about my clients and created HOME for them- the backdrops to bringing home their baby, Christmas mornings, hosting friends, and more.  I believe our homes tell a story, YOUR story, and I'm delighted to share a few projects here that reflect the personalities of my Client Friends.

And it wouldn't seem right to not tell you a little bit about myself, so we can get to know one another.  I recently realized I've had a subscription to Elle Decor magazine for over 20 years!  So in the spirit of one of their regular columns, I'll tell you ...

8 Things I Can't Live Without

1.  Being outside! I want to hike, play tennis, ski, read, camp, eat, and be near or on any body of water.

2.  Nerd alert!  Google Sheets.  I'm obsessed with organizing information, thanks to my CPA Better Half.  The good news is that we'll watch your budget like hawks.

3.  Dark chocolate

4.  100% Hawaiian coffee

5.  The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis.  I read the whole series every year.  Sometimes multiple times.

6.  Our Wednesday night Supper Club.  It is the highlight of my week every week.

7.  Good Bourbon.  Straight up.

8. Dogs! I love them all, but especially my two Wheaton Terriers, Pancake and Cowboy.
